Maybe the stress of the impending convention sets her off. I remember being cranky with my non jw parents for no reason due to convention time stress.

by jwfacts inhttp://www.smh.com.au/nsw/religious-boy-fights-court-for-right-to-die-20130917-2tx5u.html.
this is tragic.
the boy is 17, and earlier this year the courts ruled that he was to be forced a transfusion.

Good coverage! Spreading the truth bout jws to the people. Soon it will be next to impossible to pick up adult converts in this country.

Hey bugbear, thanks for your story. I know of a few elders who've had heart problems. One stepped down from being PO and never became an elder again, over a decade ago, when he had to have a quadruple bypass. I know another one who had a quadruple but still serves last I heard. There's an elder in my last cong, an older man but not ancient, who always looks like death warmed up, with red drooping eyelids and a haggard, tired face beyond his years.

What Was The Effect of You Knowing Hypocritical JW's?
by LoisLane looking for Superman in(1) did it cause you to leave sooner than you might have, otherwise.. (2) it didn't bother you enough to do anything about it.
hey, we are all imperfect.. (3) did you want to prove you were better than they, and nothing they could do or say, was going to stumble you.. (4) they stumbled me, probably as much i stumbled them.
we all know it's an old boy's club and we are not going to tell on each other.. loislane.

I know what you mean. You put em on a pedestal like oh, they're pioneering or never stressed or depressed, having so much joy serving 'Jehovah' and I'm miserable and empty so what's wrong with me? But scratch beneath the surface and they're either as miserable as u or a it of a hypocrite.

An elder told me some householder had started on at him about Russell and the miracle wheat. Well I'd never heard about that so got curious.

I think we go through more than one of Lois's points. I went through #2 as well until one day my non jw dad pointed out some jw hypocrisy and I countered with the jw axiom about human imperfections then it struck me then and there, "is this not a double standard? Some worldling does that I say tsk tsk tsk! But a jw I make excuses for- this is not honest, Julia!"
But it was not long after that I began the gradual gaining of consciousness...

Indeed they did. These days the kids are just along for the ride. Some are right into it of the kids I meet through work and when I was in the cong, but they argue from Watchtower rather than the bible. Scripture knowledge is poor, but watchtower knowledge is good. Pity it can't be used in a real debate.

It made me wonder if the whole organisation was rotten underneath as these individuals were. It added to the pile of doubts that grew and grew until I left, so I guess it played a small part in facilitating my leaving on a subconscious level.

A respectable and reputable elder told me earlier this year when I asked him about all the sell offs that the reason they've had to is because the donations just aren't coming in from developed countries like they used to. That makes sense considering th GFC and decline of Jw increase in western/ developed countries like USA and Japan.
